Story:
Yim Dong a special officer gets transferred to a foreign
embassy after disobeying orders in his last mission.
When Yim Dong arrives in the foreign country he ends
up stopping a terrorist that committed a crime. The
terrorist terns out to be the leader of the cult responsible
for the gas attacks in Japan. Yim Dong and the members
of the Chinese embassy soon get stuck between the local
government and terrorists trying to free their master.
Review: This movie was inspired by the Japanese
cult responsible for the gas attacks in Tokyo, the
main part of the story was about the cult leader.
This is an action film that is slightly different
from most Hong Kong movies due to the foreign setting.
The story is mostly a context for action with a little
drama mixed in but that kind of made certain scenes
seem long as you were waiting for the action.
The characters were not so interesting in this movie,
the only two that were a little interest were the
good guy and the bad guy but it was less for their
performance and more for the their fighting skill.
Once again we see the stereotypes of white people
in Chinese movies, it is kinda funny to see but it
also ruins the characters and makes them look stupid.
As for the rest of the supporting cast, they were
pretty much in the background. There was a little
drama between the main character and his old love
but it didn't really work with this type of movie.
This movie had hardcore action for the most part,
from incredible kung fu fights to machine gun snipers
on the roof. The hand to hand combat scenes were very
elaborate, they were long and well choreographed.
There are a few fights scenes that are over do it
but it still blends in with the movie good. The only
complain that we have is that the editing of some
fight scenes were a little choppy but except that
they were very good. The main good guy (Wen Zhuo Zhao)
is considered as the next Jet Li in Hong Kong because
of a similar fighting style and the use of wire fu.
Some people may consider that as rip off but its not,
he just uses a similar kung fu with his own style
and he does it very well. We will keep on eye on this
fellow for his future films.
The movie had great subtitles but you can expect
that from a DVD. This is first and foremost an action
movie, the kind were you sit back and enjoy and forget
everything else. You could almost say the story is
half important and you can just enjoy the great action
scenes. We recommend this movie to any action fans
but beware there is no deep story or interesting characters.

DVD
[ PAL, All Region
] :
The image quality is decent, for an Hong Kong move
of course. There is also a good Dolby Surround sound,
but nothing spectacular. You have a cast and credit,
the trailer of the movie and a simple bad menu design,
like most of the DVD from Mei Ah. So in general, it's
just an average DVD, but if you really like this movie,
go for the DVD. We have heard that there's another
better DVD version for this movie available from a
UK company: HongKong Legends. The DVD is Free Region
Coded but in PAL format, so even with a free region
coded player you will not be able to view the movie,
of course except if you have a PAL TV.
