Story:
The SDU are called to investigate a suspicious house,
the SDU team quickly finds out the house was rigged
to explode. Most of the team is killed in the explosion,
the remaining team is killed by a terrorist using a
rocket launcher. Only a single SDU member survives the
incident, in response to the deaths the police force
begins a specialized training program called BOB (Best
of the Best). BOB is the answer for next generation
SDU to deal with an increasingly amount of violent crimes.
Review: The movie is the sequel to Final
Option but it holds no relation to the first movie
other than the fact that the movie revolves around
the training of SDU members. The story is focused
around a group of men who volunteer to become an elite
swat team, they go through and extreme selection process
to find the best of the best. The story is pretty
simple but it lacks elements of interest.
Unlike the Final Option the characters in Best of
the Best are not that interesting, actually some of
the secondary characters that you see only a little
are more interesting than the main characters. The
characters are not really convincing in their roles
and also seem somewhat 2 dimensional (without depth).
There was one big emotional conflict between two characters
but it wasn't really interesting. Generally the characters
did not help this movie and were pretty ordinary,
even with a cast of very well know actor.
There was some action in this movie but it is not
comparable to Final Option, the whole training part
of the movie is pale in comparison. This is supposed
to be the best of the best, the applicants don't even
have basic SDU training, they can't even shoot straight
and they are supposed to become the best of the best
in two weeks. There was one scene with action around
the end of the movie but it lacked life, you had a
bunch of guys in SDU gear all ready for action but
they did not seem to know what the hell they were
doing. This movie in our opinion was a bad attempt
to recreate the cool training and action in Final
Option.
The subtitles were readable on the VCD version, a
little white on white but the dialog was generally
boring. We hate to say bad things about any movie
but this one was plain boring in our opinion. Maybe
if you never saw Final Option it could be pretty interesting
but when you see a good movie and then you see another
that kind of copies it but sucks well your opinion
is not so high. This movie might interest action /
swat team fans but we strongly suggest you rent before
you buy.
