Review: Gen X Cops is true to its name, this is a movie with a young look to it and very pop culturish ambiance. This is slowly becoming a new trend in HK cinema, Bio Zombie is another example of this. Even with the younger look to this film it follows a traditional storyline, its a basic police story where gangsters steal some powerful weapon and they must be stopped. The story may not be innovative but it is simple and enjoyable.

The characters are really great in this film, you have several younger actors adding the youth and vitality that makes this movie good. Also you several known older actors and a minor cameo appearance by Jackie Chan which was quite funny. Unfortunately the characters lack a background and there is not too much development during the film but they are really interesting and funny.

The action was very good in this movie and there was some comedy to mix in with it. This is a movie that is constantly moving, there is always something important happening so you don't get bored. The fight scenes are of a good quality and are easily comparable to those in other movies of this type. The gun fights themselves are well put together, the camera angle are good and not shaky. The realism level is just a touch above believable but done with good taste.

The major downside to this film were the subtitles on the VCD version, they were very small and sometimes even cutting off half of the top or bottom of the text. Basically we had trouble understanding most of the dialogs (I think its time we started learning Chinese). We recommend the DVD version of this film because of the subtitles, its cheap and easy to find since Columbia Tri-Star released a version of it. All in all this is a good movie in its genre, the younger actors with the younger style give it that extra something to make this film stick out. If you enjoy a good police action movie you will enjoy this film.
