Story: Four contract killer working for the Triad are given a mission of killing an influential merchant in Hong Kong. After the murder has been concluded their employer informs them that the merchant brother must be killed as the contracts are in his name. They have two days to complete the mission while they must deal with other triad groups causing them trouble.

Review: Killer is an action movie based in the Triad (Chinese organized crime), unlike more popular films of the genre like Young and Dangerous this movie is more raw. This movie portrays the Triad life closer to realism than its counter parts that glorifies the life of crime. The general story is simple and easy to understand.

The movie is focused on four main characters these being the killers, there are several important secondary characters that influences the development of the main characters. The main characters come with no backgrounds but there is a little evolution during the course of the story. The actors do a fine job playing the role of cold blooded killers. Even if these characters are killers you get a little attached to them, especially Gordon Chan.

As most triad movies there is no over abundance of action, there is a couple of fight and a few murders. The actual fight scenes are pretty ordinary but there is a lot of slow motion and fast forwards effects during the movie. It was to give a certain feeling to some of the scenes but after a while it got a little annoying. There was a lot of nice camera shots like where a guy was going to be killed and everything froze and the camera did a half circle around the scene. When the assassins were not killing they went through their triad life, and in this movie you had a darker view of the life of crime. The ending of this movie is not what you would expect, this surprise really adds to the movie.

The subtitles were good but there were times when the text went by really fast and it was hard to keep up with the dialog. We found this Triad movie to offer a more realistic view of Triad life, in this movie they were criminals and were not glorified. I guess that's what made this movie stick out from others of its genre that we have seen. To anyone who likes the Triad genre we recommend this movie as they would find it interesting.
