Story: The story follows the lives of a group of fireman known as the jinxed team because of their bad luck. The plot centers on 4 members of the team. There's the oldest member (Lau, Ching-Wan) of the team who falls in love with a doctor, the chief that has been reunited with his daughter after 7 years, a young rookie who get is first real experiences fighting the fire and the girl who is having problems with her marriage because of her job as a firewomen. Putting aside their personal problems they have to work together to save lives.

Review: The story focuses strongly on the development of the characters, you get a very good understanding of who they are. This movie is very powerful on the emotional level, you really get an understanding of what it is to be a fireman and the life they must live. With the strong character development its hard not to get attached to the characters, when they are in danger you really worry about their lives. You end up really understanding what their are thinking in those dangerous situations.

During the movie they do several small rescue missions, near the end you have one final large mission that tests them to the very limit. The scenes were very well filmed and you could sense the intenseness of the situations. The only drawback of the movie was the very dark tone and the claustrophobic sense of the action scenes, because of this you didn't have a full view of the surrounding scenery but it makes sense since their is a fire with smoke everywhere.

Some people might consider this the Hong Kong version of Backdraft (USA), they might be of similar genre but they are in no way the same film. The Hong Kong approach to film making is very different from the American, there was a lot of importance put on the characters and their lives unlike the American version. The music fits this movie very well but we found it was kind of a rip off of what Hans Zimmer did on The Rock and Backdraft. The subtitles on the Universal Laser version were excellent, one of the best we've ever seen.

This is a movie that has as much drama as it has action, it is a movie that should be popular with many people.
