Review: This movie was one of the big blockbusters in Hong Kong this year. It was a large production with a pretty nice budget from the look of it. This film easily has the caliber of a big Hollywood production and can go head to head with most of the American movies. This movie kind of reminded us about Swiri (a korean movie), it had a similar style of story but on a different level. In the beginning some people might find it a little hard to understand the details as so much is going on but it does not take long to get on track.

The characters and the performance of the actors was pretty much brilliant, it was here where it really made the movie work. The main character had an internal conflict, one of good vs. evil and one of not knowing who you are. On both extremities you had the police and the terrorists trying to convince him to join either side. The terrorist were especially believable in their performance, you really saw the passion of the revolution in their eyes. The police on the other hand were the force standing against the terrorist, they were less present and were in a way something to overcome for the terrorist. It is hard to explain all the things with the characters but know that they are really the most important part in the story and the development of the main character is very well developed.

If the incredible performance from the actors wasn't enough you had a whole lot of action tossed in to make up for that. As we mentioned earlier this was a big production, no detail was over looked for the action scenes. The quality of the various gun fight and explosions were simply beautiful. The fight scenes were all very well laid out, there weren't any senseless action to no point to it. If any of you are familiar with the Counter-Strike mod for Half-Life you will have a chance to see those games of Terrorists Vs Swat Team come to life. Basically to sum it all up the action value of this film is very good.

The subtitles on the DVD version were great but sometimes the text went by a little fast like most DVD`s. We can easily understand this films incredible success in Hong Kong, it is simply a movie of quality. Also this is a taste of what is to come in the Hong Kong film industry, they are using the latest technologies and becoming more like Hollywood in the sense of visual quality. This movie showed us they can compete with Hollywood without loosing the HK style but on the other hand there was 2000 A.D. another big production that seemed to be soulless like the American movies. We shall see where the Hong Kong film industry will be going in the next couple of years. We recommend this movie to any and all action fans.

DVD [ NTSC, All Region ] :

The image quality was excellent, it had a similar quality to the best of the American DVD releases. An excellent surround sound 5.1 and some pretty cool menus that you don't see too often on a Hong Kong DVD. For the extras you had : Chapter Selection, Starts File, Great Making Of around 20 minutes with subtitles, 2 trailers of the movie and three additional trailers (Gen-X-Cops, Metade Fumaca, Tempting Hearts).
