Story:
Four guys are siting around in a convenience store eating
some ramen soup. Looking for something to do, one of
them says " Lets Attack the Gas Station again ".
The 4 guys rush a corner gas station, which they robbed
weeks before; they find the cash register nearly empty.
While holding the staff out of sight a customer comes
to the gas station, after getting paid for the gas they
decide to take the whole gas station hostage and pump
gas for personal profit. The night is only starting
and there is a lot in store for our would-be gas station
attendants.
Review: Attack the Gas Station is an extremely
original stylish piece of comedy. The story is very
imaginative and a lot of things that happen during
the movie are the kind of things you'd say "
Wouldn't it be cool if this and that would happen"
but it never does, in attack the gas station is does
happen. This movie is simply said fun, a group of
guys go out and do some illegal things, not really
ill intentioned but not respecting the law. The story
is simple to follow and is very entertaining.
The characters are the life of the movie, the 4
main characters are each unique and very colorful.
In fact each of the main characters seem to have a
primary color (yellow, red, blue and green), that
goes well with the rest of the movie which is sharp
and has color. During the course of the movie you
get a feeling of knowing the main characters a little
better as there is some development into their nature.
The secondary characters are also great, there is
far less development on their part but in this movie
every character gets their 15 seconds of fame. The
entire cast is simply great, the acting is of a high
quality and the chemistry visible.
You have action, comedy and all around entertainment
in this movie. Most of the entertainment is based
on comedy, be it dialog, situational humor or the
things that the characters do. The kind of humorous
situations in this movie are the kind of things that
would never been seen in an American movie. In reality
this is a comical and satirical view of a gas station
hold up and in a way it makes the entire situation
look like fun. While watching the movie you can't
help but wonder what would be like in that situation,
the sense of adventure is brought to life in this
movie. Action wise you have some brawls and lots of
high paced movement. The success of this movie is
the combination of the action, comedy and story to
bring you one hell of an adventure.
The subtitles were great on the DVD version, the
dialog is important but it is easy to follow. This
movie can easily be called a masterpiece but then
again a matter of personal opinion falls into place.
Some people might consider the movie to be stupid
but generally for the open minded individual they
would find the movie interesting. When this movie
was presented at Fantasia 2000 the response from the
crowd was incredible (winning the 1st prize for Best
Comedia section) so I guess many people would find
this movie interesting. This movie is pretty much
a must see, anyone who likes *cool comedy* movies
should adore this one.

DVD
[ NTSC, All Region]
:
The image quality (LTB) is pretty much excellent,
on the box it is indicated that the movie is in anamorphic
16x9, unfortunately that is not the case. There is
also a weird problem with the image, if you don't
switch your DVD to 16x9 you will find the image squeezed.
The sound was Dolby digital 5.1, extra: TV spot, trailer,
talent files and a small making of without English
subtitles. This is the best version of the movie,
if you compare to the MeiAh release, this version
is far superior.
