None of the other students or other teachers like Ms. Lau because of her strict heartless attitude. Two new teachers join the staff that year as well, the principles daughter and Mr. Au, the students quickly take a liking to Mr. Au because of his view on things. He tries to help out the students with their various problems in their lives. Near the end of the year all the classes practice for a dance competition that will be held at the end of the year.

Review: IQ Dudettes is a movie unlike the rest in our collection, because it is a comedy/drama oriented towards a younger teen crowd. This movie almost seems like a collection of episodes from a TV series about students and their lives rather than one big story. The story is simple to understand and pleasant.

There are quite a few characters that stick out during this movie, a few students and the teachers but after the first 15 minutes you will know everyone. The characters are likeable but none of them really stick out as remarkable, except the evil teacher Ms Lau. During the movie there is some development for some of the characters as they deal with issues in their lives. There was one character that left us wondering, a tomboy girl, one minute we thought it was a guy and the next a girl. We could not figure out, as first we thought it was a guy in a dress like a crossdresser ( we are serious ). Anyway we wont tell you if its a guy or a girl we'll let you have fun with that. Don't worry you will find out at some point in the movie.

The entertainment is a little slow paced as this movie is mostly a drama, there is a little comedy thrown in but a good percentage of the movie is serious. Even with the slow place we did not find the movie boring or any really long moments, well except near the end, the dance contest was a little too long. About the dance during the end of the movie, it's the same type as in a musical movie, we dint find that part really interesting.

The subtitles were great and the dialog was not overwhelming. I am sure our regular readers might find this movie a little odd with our usual line up as this site is mostly orientated towards the action/kung fu genre. We would like to say that we reviewed this movie because we wanted to see a different and softer side of Hong Kong cinema. Well that's not exactly the truth, we noticed this movie while we were shopping for movies. The reason we noticed it because of lovely ladies of the cover or like we said at that moment " Hey look there's hot chicks on the cover lets get this movie ". That is the truth we do not deny it but we are glad that we had a chance to see this movie because it was a different taste of Hong Kong cinema that we don't usually see. This movie is pretty ordinary, it is not bad but it isn't a movie we'll probably see twice. Basically this movie is not the genre we usually watch. We recommend this movie to anyone who likes Drama and those high school type movies.

DVD [ NTSC, All Region ] :

The image quality of this movie was surprisingly very good, the sound a decent stereo 2.0. The extra's for this DVD include : Chapter Selection, Stars Files, The Official Trailer, 3 additional trailers (Those were the days, Phantom Call, Sexy and Dangerous II). This is a high quality DVD (to HK standar) so if you really liked the movie its worth buying.
