Review: Break out your vics and your glow sticks and get ready for a rave fever experience, well not exactly. This is a very stylish movie that is somewhat set in the rave culture. The rave culture element is not as strong as the title would suggest, what you have is a movie where a bunch of loosely connected people get tied up into something bigger after meeting at a rave. The story is very interesting, and is told from several different perspectives.

The characters are very important in this movie because everything is centered around them. The characters are the movie, the characters are pretty well developed and are interesting to see. The story is not focused on any characters, there is no central character; in fact the character who you think is central to the movie disappears for a good while. One character we have to mention that was both good and bad in the movie was Nicole, she was one stuck up pick. She was vengeful and filled with a better than you attitude and pretty kind of a character you'd pull from a soap opera. All of the characters had a certain uniqueness with qualities and faults, which was pretty cool.

So this is a Drama, that means no action right? Not so fast just because it's a drama does not mean it's boring. The movie was stylish and it was different in the sense of movies like Pulp Fiction, Go, Run Lola Run, you get the idea. They tried for a weird non-linear story line and the end result was quite good, you also see the events through several perspectives. There is only one problem with the movie is that they abuse the use of flashbacks, at a point in the movie you have several flashbacks of an event and its just too much. Without revealing any of the story there is quite a bit of a thriller element in this movie, its pretty cool and you will be unsure what to think. There is also some great comedy in the movie but the best is the punch at the end of the movie, if you reveal the punch you pretty much ruin the movie. There is one thing we have to mention as well I guess this is a good enough place, you know how raves are about cool music, well the music was very uncool in this movie. We did not find it so good and it was not rave music well not by North American standards, so I guess only if your from Hong Kong you'd know if the sound track made sense or not.

The subtitles were very good for a VCD, the dialog is important so pay attention. As for the VCD, this is probably the best quality VCD we have ever seen, the image was very clean. We bought Rave Fever on a guess, we had no clue what it was and thought the title sounded cool. As usual after buying a movie we find out more about it, we heard its some drama and not even about raves so on the shelf it went here. It stayed there for a pretty long time as we were mainly reviewing DVDs. We finally decided to check out the movie and to be honest we were pleasantly surprised, it was a pretty cool movie to watch and was worth getting it. If you have a chance to see this movie its worth checking out, well unless if you can live without heavy action in a movie.
