Story:
Ring 2 is a direct continuation of where the first film
left off. The reporter who was originally researching
the cursed video has disappeared, a co-worker decides
to follow up on the leads and find out what happened.
The reporters ex-husband's assistant is also looking
for answers, she is looking for Yoshi the original reporters
son. They follow a trail of clues that brings them to
a psychiatric hospital where a patient had a run in
with Sadako (she was with the original reporters niece
when she died "in Ring I"). They discover
a world of supernatural phenomenon and eventually they
find out that Yoshi is the key to destroying Sadako.
Review: This movie was the best way to do
a sequel, it left of where the original film stopped.
There the first movie ended its as if another story
was about to begin and that what the second movie
is, you can almost say that Ring 1 and 2 are just
one big movie. This movie is somewhat the informative
about all the things you did not know in the first
movie. You find out why the curse exists and who was
Sadako really. Also it ties up all the lose ends from
the first move, you find out what happened to everyone.
Expect almost all your questions to be answer in Ring
3, it is going to be a prequel from the past of Sadako.
It really quite interesting what happens with the
characters in this movie, the two main characters
were secondary characters in the first film that you
only saw for an instant. As for the main characters
from the first film they take up the secondary role
and you will only see them for a short while. Most
of the characters are the same in this film, nothing
changes and it seems you are still watching Ring I.
All comments that were said about the characters in
Ring I are applicable here.
Ring II is still the same movie as the first one,
slow and psychological with a lot of dialog and story
to understand. One thing that is really different
in this movie is that the horror element is somewhat
toned down as in you do not feel the same suspense
as in the first film. This is probably due to the
fact that they are finding answers and somewhat revealing
the mystery. But don't get me wrong, like the first
film, you still have the extreme fear causing scenes.
Luckily unlike Ring I you do have subtitles for this
movie, they are clear and visible but the only problem
is the usual white on white. Now most of you are thinking
that since you cant get Ring I with subtitles your
just go and get this one, that is a bad idea. Without
seeing Ring I it is pointless to see Ring II as you
missed like half of the story. Also if you see Ring
II before Ring I that will ruin the entire series.
To really enjoy this movie you should only see it
after you've seen Ring I and of course you enjoyed
that film.
