Meanwhile two policewomen look into the murder of the British agent and try to find the thieves.

Review: Yes Madam is an 80's HK police movie with a combination of action and humor. Michelle Yeoh plays her action debut in this movie and you can see that she was just as talented, with her martial skills, then as she is today. The movie was produced by Sammo Hung and you can easily see his influence in the movie. Tsui Hark also plays a character in the movie, its funny to see him in front of the camera. The story in this movie is very simple but it has a few surprises, you will not have any trouble following this movie.

You have two types of characters in this movie, the silly ones and the serious ones. The silly characters basically add for the humor level in the movie while still playing important roles. The serious characters seemed a little cold and distant. The villains were very cliché, such as the boss with a stupid evil laugh, as for the rest of the villains, well we dont want to spoil you anything so you will just have to see it for yourself.

The movie is not as action packed as some may lead you to believe, there is only one real big Kung Fu fight at the end of the movie. During the rest of the movie, you have small incidents or minor fights but nothing that will get the excitement going. The opening of the movie is also pretty cool with the big gun fight where Michelle Yeoh does some serious damage. But for the movie as a whole, the action level is not enough, there should have been at least 2 more great fights like the one at the end. The story and the humor in the movie is probably not enough to keep the interest of the dedicated action fan.

The subtitles are very good on the DVD version and the dialogs are easy to follow. Yes Madam left us pretty unimpressed, there was just not enough action in the movie to make it worth while. None the less you have an excellent performance by Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock. As for Tsui Hark, he is a funny guy it seems. We recommend this movie to Michelle Yeoh fans and to those of you who don't mind the 80's HK setting but honestly we suggest you rent the movie before you buy it.

DVD [ NTSC, All Region ] :

Very good image quality (LTB) for an old movie, not too many scratches were apparent on the print and the image was very clear. As for the sound, you have a decent 5.1 Dolby Digital. Extras: Chapters, Start Files, official trailer, Extra Trailers: Easy Money (worst trailer ever!) Royal Warriors and Magnificient Warriors. In general it a very decent release by Universe, if you like the movie, you should get this DVD.
