Story: BoA’s first live tour promoting her “Valenti” album kicks off into full gear and is documented on this excellent DVD. If you’re a member of the official fan club: Jumping BoA, or just a regular fan, you simply cannot pass this one up no matter what. This concert DVD features everyone’s favorite world idol at her best, showcasing just what makes her one of the top stars topping the charts consecutively! See it, and believe in the hmagic that is called BoA!

Review: Starting out when she was a mere 13 years old, BoA demonstrates how she’s come a long way since her debut years. She’s definitely not the young lady she used to be, yet she still retains all her radiance since day one.

The concert opens with a slew of strange people in bizarre costumes walking up and down the aisles while lasers emit around the arena. While everyone is busy gawking at these weirdo’s, a dark silhouette begins to appear on stage behind a thin curtain whilst a haze of smoke flutters around her. The veil drops and BoA reveals herself sporting her black biker outfit and the show begins! Get ready for BoA at her best!

As the thousands of fans begin waving their glow sticks around, she begins to perform one of her top hits “Listen To My Heart.” Production values for this concert are pretty good. Lights, lasers, and pyrotechnics are used well and effectively to give the show a pure sense of fun and entertainment. Sets for the stage are set up fairly well and showcase some very intricate set designs every now and then. Occasionally, there are just some plain sets consisting of black bars and and steps. That’s fine though since they aren’t the major part of the stage. There is one segment of a performance that is simply astounding. BoA jumps into a giant televised screen in the background and proceeds to dance. Her dancing partner shows up and the two switch off back and forth “battling” the other, whichever is in the screen and vice-versa.

Starting her career, she started as a very young and talented girl. Through the years, BoA has grown and changed into a stunning young woman. She has kept her same signature style while throwing in a new flare vocally and visually. Her singing and dancing have vastly improved beyond her former days. Her singing packs a certain power, and her moves now encompass an indescribable “oomph.”

Throughout the course of the concert performance, BoA changes into different outfits more times than I change my clothes during a typical week. For the concert, she performs some of her newer songs from her Valenti album. Starting from some harder more energizing tracks, she brings the concert to a slower pace and quickly brings it back to a refreshing set of fast and furious songs. Stopping only to introduce her band members and her dancers, BoA practically never stops performing for her audience. Rounding out the concert, she performs some of her older more popular songs from her earlier days. Back are the familiar moves that she showcased on her first appearance on SBS years ago, the trademarks of her hit song “ID: Peace B.” Finishing up the concert, she gives a truly heartfelt and emotional performance of a ballad entitled “Every Heart.” When all is done and through with, BoA, with tears of happiness streaming down her cheeks, and her team of dancers and musicians bid farewell to her fans and audience. The words, “See you Next World” appear on the giant screen behind them, signifying the release of the next album. Til then, BoA has left a lasting impression on me and many of her fans world-wide, and we’ll definitely be seeing her “Next World.”

DVD [ NTSC, Region 3 ] :

Avex Trax brings us an excellent DVD of an astonishing concert performance by BoA! Video is presented in a very well done and clear 1.85:1 Anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio. Colors are bright and vibrant and remain true to the original source content. Audio isn’t as good as I’d hoped it to be, and is a Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo format. What really hurts this entire experience is the lack of any English subtitles for the duration of the concert. We don’t know what she’s saying in her songs, and the only way you would, is if you have a full working knowledge of the Korean and Japanese language. As for extras, there are no extras whatsoever on this DVD. Normally, this would hurt the overall score, and though it does somewhat, the content on this DVD more than makes up for the extras it lacks.
