Story: Fin.K.L’s Live 2000 concert finally arrives on DVD! For those of you who have been waiting ages for this release, you’re in for a fantastic treat!

Review: Fine Killing Liberty. That’s what Fin.K.L stands for. Don’t ask me how they came up with that name. But anyhow, I had loads of fun watching Fin.K.L’s concert. I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I first purchased this DVD. I just got this because I was a huge fan-boy of Fin.K.L back when I was in highschool. I’d listen to their songs everyday in my car with my friends trying to sing along. It wasn’t a pretty sight my friends. You wouldn’t have wanted to know me back then. Well, up until now, I’ve never seen one of their performances until now!

What do I think? I thought it was alright. Their performances were just sub-par. Compared to the likes of Britney Spears, these girls’ acts were a tad bit on the light side. Their dances were a little too rehearsed and lacked the fluid and natural look that some other performers possess. Content wise, this concert event also had the members of Fin.K.L doing their own individual special performances. Hyori did her Christina Aguilera version of “Genie in a Bottle,” while Yuri did her version of Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby, One More Time.” Juhyun did her operatic piece and some Mariah Carey performances, while Jin performed some other type of dramatic show. These provided a good break from all the Korean tracks on the rest of the disc. I think Juhyun is actually the superior singer in the group, and she shows it. She may not be the best looking of the bunch, but her voice more than makes up for it. Providing a break from all the singing and dancing, we get a short little movie sequence of Fin.K.L’s members on a ski trip which is fun to watch, but not really. It was good for what it was, just a break from the music.

Some people complain that concert performances are a waste of money and that performers just lip-sync most of the time, but not in this case. The fine ladies of Fin.K.L really do sing and they are fantastic! No lip-syncing here gentlemen. So those of you worrying about that, put your worries to rest, it’s all good here.

In conclusion, Fin.K.L Live Concert 2000 is a “fantabulous” booty-fest of Fin.K.L goodness! Though their performances are a little lacking, this concert DVD is still worth a viewing, but maybe not a purchase. It depends how big of a Fin.K.L fan you are. Do you crave some Fine Killing Liberty? That’s the question!

DVD [ NTSC, Region 3 ] :

Though the sleeve indicates the product as Region ALL, it is a misprint and is Region 3. Starmax provides us with a pretty decent DVD presentation of Fin.K.L’s 2000 Concert. Video is shown in a 4:3 fullscreen aspect ratio. Video quality is nothing fantastic, and is pretty decent given the source material with some noticeable compression problems here and there. Audio is provided in three different formats including DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1, and Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo. DTS is a little more active than the 5.1 mix, which is pretty good as well. Spot checks of the stereo mix sounded fine. Extras are a little thin, which include 4 music videos that are pretty fun to watch.
