What
would your dream project for a film be like? Who would produce,
direct, write and star in it? What would the film be about?
Producer:
David Lynch
Director: Dejan Ognjanovic
Writer: Dejan Ognjanovic, based on his novel
IN VIVO (published by Prosveta, Nis, 2003, in Serbian)
Starring: A bunch of unknown, but brave young
people
Synopsis: It happens in Serbia in 1995: the
war is raging in Croatia and Bosnia, but in Serbia only madness
is raging. The main guy, a young man of 23, is an outsider,
working in a porn video club. He tries to stay sane surounded
by madness by looking for the most extreme horror and porn
videos. He learns about snuff films made in Bosnia with war
prisoners. He ultimately obtains a bunch of those, but by
coincidence, one of the movies shows a black magic ritual
performed in Kosovo 8southern Serbia) – invocation of
a mysterious entity. After this film, he starts seeing this
apparition in the background of any atrocity scene shown on
TV… And this is just the beginning of events on a much
larger scale which involve occult conspiracies, real-life
slaughter and Lovecraftian horror.
Your
fondest experience in going to the movies
Seeing HELLRAISER for the first time in the cinema, in 1987.
My idea of what a horror film should do has been strongly
influenced by the sense of awe I felt then.
Coolest
thing that has ever happened to me
Getting a stipend through which I spent a full year in Berkeley,
California, and had lots of fun there, and elsewhere in the
USA. I also got to meet Tobe Hooper and have him sign my ‘Texas
Chainsaw Massacre’ DVD… And I had a direct, personal
access to the manuscripts of H.P. Lovecraft in the John Hay
Library at Brown University in Providence.
Current
ambition and goals
Getting an MA (my thesis is on Lovecraft), writing several
more kick-ass horror novels, turning my firstborn into a film,
finding the woman of my life…
